Reporter: As far as I know, many people are aware of Hevita's outstanding effectiveness. However, why isn't it widely available in pharmacies?
Dr. Esperanza Cabral shares:
In reality, this is a very complex and difficult issue to control. Previously, we licensed distribution to qualified pharmacies, aiming to make the product more accessible to patients.
However, some individuals and entities have taken advantage of the reputation and scarcity of Hevita to profit illegally, arbitrarily raising prices many times higher than the list price set by the Department of Health (DOH). Fearing they wouldn't be able to buy the medicine or that their condition might worsen, many people still accept buying it at the high price. In addition, e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Lazada have also been exploited to distribute counterfeit and substandard products, seriously affecting the health of consumers.
Reporter: So, is there any way to buy genuine products, doctor?
Dr. Esperanza Cabral shares:
Currently, Hevita is being distributed directly through the DOH's online portal and major hospitals. With the support of WHO and DOH, Hevita is more accessible to the public. Currently, Hevita is subsidized by WHO and DOH with a 50% discount through the "Buy 3 Get 2 Free" and "Buy 6 Get 4 Free" programs. This is a great opportunity to help many patients in difficult circumstances and the elderly access this service. The Department of Health is committed to implementing strategies supported by WHO to ensure equity, universal access to healthcare services, and the development of a strong national healthcare system that meets the health and well-being needs of all.
